VIER
A debut collection by Chandra Martin
About the Book
VIER is a collection of four short stories about moments when everyday life starts to feel strangely warped. Each story centers on a different circumstance — coincidence, haunting, karma, and grief. VIER examines how these forces press against our lives and alter the paths we think we’re following.
These stories don’t rely on shock or spectacle. They move slowly and focus on how the past, fear, and loss influence the present. The supernatural elements are subtle and reflect the emotional weight the characters carry.
Grounded in emotion, VIER explores the space between the familiar and the strange. It’s a collection meant to stay with the reader after it ends.
Also available through major library platforms including OverDrive, Hoopla, BorrowBox, and more.
Author’s Note
VIER came from moments when my everyday life felt slightly off, as if I were about to grasp something vast and secret, only to feel it slide out of reach. I’m drawn to questions without clear answers and to the feeling that there may be more happening than we can see.
One story came from a vivid dream that stayed with me after I woke up. The others developed more slowly, through ordinary experiences, recurring thoughts, returning memories, and the sense of being watched.
I wrote this collection to explore those moments. I hope the stories stay with you long after you’ve finished reading.
